Barcelona Femení matched their largest Women’s Champions League victory in club history on Wednesday night, dominating Sweden’s Hammarby 9-0 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

Caroline Graham Hansen and Clàudia Pina each scored twice, while five other players added goals, securing the reigning champions’ first points of the European season after an opening loss to Manchester City.

The victory ties Barça’s record Women’s Champions League win, last achieved against Benfica in October 2022. That season, the Blaugrana claimed the title, adding to their three total Women’s Champions League trophies—second only to Lyon’s eight.

Barcelona’s recent form has been remarkable, averaging over five second-half goals per game across its last five matches, including emphatic wins against Granada, Madrid CFF, and Espanyol.

The all-time Women’s Champions League record belongs to Apollon Limassol, who defeated Ada Velipojë 21-0 in a 2012 qualifier.

Barça opened Wednesday’s scoring just 10 minutes in when Ballon d’Or nominee Caroline Graham Hansen bypassed Hammarby’s goalkeeper Anna Tamminen. Clàudia Pina added her first in the 24th minute, followed by headers from Alexia Putellas and Mapi León on either side of halftime to extend the lead to 4-0.

Pina’s second goal, assisted by 2023 Ballon d’Or Féminin winner Aitana Bonmatí, came in the 58th minute with a composed finish under Tamminen. Fifteen minutes later, Ewa Pajor netted the sixth following a strong run down the wing by Graham Hansen.

Further goals from Graham Hansen and substitute Esmee Brugts pushed the score to 8-0, before Fridolina Rolfö converted a penalty to cap the victory.

Barcelona will face Levante next in Spain’s Liga F on Sunday, with their next Women’s Champions League matchup against Austria’s St. Pölten on November 12.
